    - The show subverts racial stereotypes by having a very diverse cast, even changing originally White characters to have actors who are POC's such as Will Parry now having an actor of Mixed heritage or Lee Scoresby being played by Lin Manuel Miranda who is of Puerto Rican descent.

    - I think the Audience Demographic that the majority of His Dark Materials fans fit into is probably the Explorer because of the show's adventurous qualities.

    What audience pleasures are offered by His Dark Materials - The City of Magpies? 

    • Personal Identity:  
    - The show provides audiences, particularly younger viewers, with characters who reflect the transition into adolescence. Viewers see themselves in Lyra's rebelliousness and her search for truth, as well as Will's vulnerability and kindness, which subverts the traditionally stoic masculinity seen in fantasy.
    • Personal Relationships: 
    - The relationship between characters and their daemons (e.g., Lyra and Pan) offers a unique representation of companionship, allowing viewers to explore themes of loyalty, empathy, and the unconditional bond between a soul and its manifestation.
    • Diversion (Escapism):: 
    The episode transports audiences away from everyday routines by introducing the mysterious, empty city. This provides a classic escapist pleasure—immersion into a visually distinct, magical realm filled with suspense and danger.

    - Fans had a largely positive reaction to Season 2 of His Dark Materials. While many viewers praised the improved pacing and the growing chemistry between leads Dafne Keen and Amir Wilson, others felt the season was scattered and missed the deeper wonder of Philip Pullman's novels

    Audience Effects Theory Passive Reading: - Taking every piece of media you come across at face value and not having any thoughts about.
